The SMC Online Training program is an ever-evolving course that is constantly being updated and upgraded based on comments by past and present students.  Our Online SMP Training Certification Program is a self-paced course that can be completed in as little as 2 weeks.  Although current PMU and Tattoo Artists will find this course much easier and faster to get through, this course was designed for the average student, experienced or new to the Permanent Makeup industry. 

Once a student signs up for our Online SMP Certification Training Program, they will receive access to our training site.  We ask that the student first complete the Blood Borne Pathogen for Body Artists portion of the program, which is included and is also an online training program and certification course.  Once the BBP course has been completed, the student then completes the Hair and Hair Loss portion of the program.  In order to be successful with client consultations, the student must be aware of hair, hair loss, hair loss treatments, skin, hair and skin anatomy, etc.  If you are not able to talk intelligently about hair loss with a client who has suffered from this condition for years and who has probably already tried many types of hair loss treatments before walking into your office, then you will not be able to sign the client up for an SMP treatment. 

When the student has completed the Hair and Hair Loss portion of the program, they will have received their SMP KIT in the mail.  They will now be able to complete the practice modules.  The practice modules include a video, text, and pictures to show the student exactly how to complete an SMP treatment from beginning to end.  The SMP Online Certification Program teaches each student everything from setting up your new SMP Machine, to drawing a hairline, to completing an SMP treatment.  The SMP KIT includes everything you need to complete SMP certification program, as well as be able to complete treatments on your own. 

The student will need to complete each practice module and submit pictures and/or videos online of their work.  Our SMP Master will then evaluate the student’s work and either pass them or ask them to resubmit their work with corrections.  Once the student has passed the course, they will receive their Certification as an SMP Artist. 

The Scalp Micropigmentation Center not only conducts hundreds of SMP treatments per year, but they are the leaders in training future SMP Artists.  Our SMP Training program focuses on the main points of SMP, which are: 

Proper SMP Training 

There are a variety of SMP training programs out there, but most rely on Tattoo and PMU equipment, while SMC produces their own SMP Certified Needles and Pigments for the sole purpose of conducting an SMP Treatment.  Our SMP Training program has been developed by our Master SMP Artist, who has worked years in the industry and was very disappointed in the lack of training and equipment used in today’s SMP treatments; thus, we developed our own.  In order to be the best SMP Artist in the World, you need to be trained by the best! 

SMP Power Source 

This is an important part of the SMP treatment, as the power source needs to be powerful enough to drive the needle cleanly through the first layer of skin.  If you are using a PMU machine, chances are you are getting a lot of blow outs because those machines do not have enough power, and are used for Permanent Makeup, not Scalp Micropigmentation. 

SMP Machine 

The machine must have the correct settings on it, and a regular PMU or Rotary Pen cannot be used to complete a proper SMP treatment because if you are using the proper power source, rotary pens would not be able to handle the kind of power needed to complete a proper SMP Treatment.  We are partnered with Cheyenne, the best tattoo machine makers in the world.  Our machine is powerful enough to handle the power source and has the correct settings to be able to drive the needle through the first layer of skin cleanly.  If the machine you are using is vibrating too much, you cannot control your needle and you will get poor results. 

SMP Needles 

Again, we work with Cheyenne, the best needle makers in the world.  Their needles are of high standards and have no back flow.  Currently, most SMP providers are using tattoo needles or permanent makeup needles.  Obviously, you would want someone to use proper SMP needles, designed specifically for use in Scalp Micropigmentation.  We have designed 3 types of needles that work with different skin types and different ethnicities.  We sell our SMP Certified products to only our students, and not to the general public. 

SMP Pigments 

Our SMP Pigments or Pigments are specially formulated for SMP ONLY.  Our SMP Pigments will not change color and are free of any carcinogens.  The fear today is that other providers are using Pigments that are from unknown sources, or worse are permanent makeup pigments, which are composed of different colors.  If PMU pigments are used, they will eventually fade into their original colors, thus, your perfect brown color pigment today, can and will turn green or blue tomorrow.  Only use SMP Certified equipment and supplies. 

Continuing SMP Training and Education 

SMP is still very new in the hair loss industry, and as leaders in the industry, we continue to add new SMP treatments, techniques, supplies, equipment, etc., and each SMC student will have the opportunity to continue to train and learn the art of SMP by way of our online community and video series.
